Fresh off back-to-back victories in the FC2 Championship, Fraser McConnell didn’t stop there—he also delivered a standout performance in the fiercely contested Open 4WD class.

With 46 points scored in Denmark, the Jamaican driver emerged as the second-best performer of the weekend, trailing only Ulrik Linnemann. It’s a remarkable turnaround, especially considering that the FC2 finals twice swung in his favor—a welcome relief for a driver who had yet to taste victory since the season opener in Montalegre.

“It’s an incredible feeling,” McConnell admitted. “Of course, I would have loved to walk away with two more wins in Open 4WD, especially after starting on the front row in both finals. But I’m extremely satisfied with two consecutive victories in FC2. It closes the championship gap and sets things up for an even more exciting showdown in Germany.”

For McConnell, finally securing a win in FC2 represents a turning point in his season.

“Getting that first FC2 victory was huge for me—I’d been waiting for it for a long time. I’m thrilled for the team and proud to show what this car is capable of, even against the Supercars. Hopefully, this will encourage more drivers to join the FC2 category next season.”

The weekend was all the more special because McConnell achieved his double triumph at a track that holds a unique place in his career.

“Nysum is special for me—it’s where I scored my very first Supercar win. Coming back here and winning again is an incredible feeling. Since the start of the season, I’ve had to learn a new track at every event, which always means going through a steep learning curve. This time, things were different—I had some reference points, which allowed me to focus solely on performance, and that makes a huge difference.”

Looking ahead, the stage in Germany promises to be an entirely different challenge.

“I’ve never raced at Estering before. It’s a tight track with an unpredictable first corner, but the loose gravel sections should really play to the strengths of the FC2 in terms of traction. It’s definitely a layout that could work in our favor. The car has improved massively in terms of starts, and we’ve nailed down a great setup. This weekend, we pulled off several around-the-outside moves and defended well when starting on the inside. Aside from the two Open 4WD finals, we basically won every start.”

With two victories under his belt and his confidence fully restored, McConnell now heads to Germany with one clear mission: to finish the season in style.
