Claiming his second victory of the season in Race 2 at Nysum, Lukas Andersson has thrust himself firmly back into the title battle. With just two points separating him from championship leader Julien Meunier heading into the final round in Germany this weekend, the JC Raceteknik driver could barely hide his satisfaction when reflecting on his weekend.
After missing the podium in Saturday’s Race 1, Andersson experienced a true rollercoaster of emotions. Third in the intermediate standings and perfectly placed to fight for the win after securing pole for the final, his hopes were dashed when the weather turned against him.
“In Race 1, everything was looking good for us. My semi-final win had given me pole position,” Andersson explained.
“But just as I lined up on the grid, the windshield defogger system failed completely. I couldn’t see a thing after the first few meters and quickly told the team over the radio that this final was going to be a nightmare. My brother tried to guide me as best he could throughout the race, but I couldn’t do better than fifth. I was devastated and honestly angry because I knew we had the pace to fight for the top step of the podium.”
That disappointment didn’t stop Andersson from bouncing back just a day later.

“Everything clicked perfectly in Race 2. Even though I only managed third in Q1, I knew that with a good launch in Q2 I could take the outside line into Turn 1 and grab the lead—and that’s exactly what I did. From there, I just kept control all the way to the checkered flag in the final.”
While this is only Andersson’s second win of the season, his performance delivered the weekend’s biggest points haul—52 out of a possible 60.
“This win feels special because all season long, nothing seemed to go my way. In Finland, I broke a driveshaft, and at Älvsbyn, brake problems ruined my shot at victory. It was like one setback after another. But this time, luck was finally on my side, and when everything works, I know I can win races.”
“I absolutely had to win this second race. Now I’m just two points behind Julien Meunier in the standings, and I’ve reclaimed second place from Roberts Vitols. It’s going to be an epic showdown in Germany. I’ve never experienced a season with a title fight this intense. Those points I scored in Race 2 were crucial, and I’m relieved I managed to deliver.”
Now, everything comes down to the legendary Estering circuit, where the 2025 season will reach its climax this weekend.
“A few days of rest now, then it’s full focus on Germany. I’m ready to give everything in this final double-header. No more calculations, no holding back—it’s flat out to go and grab that title.”
