The previous round in Nysum was far from ideal for Maiko Tamm, yet the Estonian driver appears largely unfazed by the setbacks he encountered in Denmark.
Arriving at Nysum as the championship leader with a 19-point advantage over Ulrik Linnemann, Tamm now heads into the season finale in Buxtehude trailing his Danish rival by 11 points.
Eliminated twice at the semi-final stage in Denmark, the Estonian surrendered 30 points to his direct opponent in just 48 hours. Still, it will take more than that to shake the TT Motorsport driver’s resolve.
“In Nysum, we had good pace, but bad luck struck, coupled with a major technical problem. That’s what explains the final result. Now we have to fight to get back into contention,” Tamm emphasised.
Bouncing back from such a disappointment is never easy, especially with only a few days separating the Danish round from Buxtehude. Yet the Ford Fiesta driver insists he quickly put the setback behind him.
“For me, it’s quite simple: I don’t dwell on the past. I prefer to focus on the next race, on the next start. That’s where my priority lies,” he explained.
And while losing the championship lead might seem like a blow, Tamm believes it could actually work to his advantage.
“When you’re second in the standings, it’s sometimes easier — you can focus on the chase rather than defending your position. Being the leader brings more pressure. Right now, I can concentrate on one clear goal: closing the gap to Linnemann.”
