Although the young JC Raceteknik driver fell short of clinching the Supercar Lites crown, Lukas Andersson still views his 2025 season as a highly positive campaign.

He missed out on the RallyX title by just ten points to Julien Meunier in the overall standings.

Despite winning two of the final three rounds of the year, the Swedish driver—who stunned the paddock in July by finishing second overall at Euro RX1 in Höljes on his very first appearance at that level—knows that the opening race in Buxtehude could have changed everything.

Fourth after qualifying, Andersson fought his way onto the front row of the final. But a chaotic first corner, just as he had made the best start of the field, shattered his title hopes.

“Honestly, after race one I just wanted to pack my bags and go home,” Andersson admits.

“I was furious. From my point of view, I had the upper hand going into turn one, but I got pushed wide and ended up stuck in fourth. I tried to fight back, but there was no way through. In the joker lap I attempted a move that didn’t work, and it cost me dearly—I had to settle for sixth and last in the final. At that moment, I knew my last chance at the title had probably slipped away.”

Stung by the disappointment of race one, the JC Raceteknik driver responded in the best possible way the following day, dominating proceedings. Winning all three qualifying heats, Andersson capped the weekend with his second victory of the season and a maximum haul of 30 points.

“I gave it absolutely everything in race two. At that point, the only thing left to do was to win the final round of the championship, and that’s exactly what we did. It was the perfect way to end our campaign. My season has had its ups and downs, but we always had the pace to fight for victories. I’ve set countless fastest laps since last spring, which is a good indicator of our true potential. Still, as is often the case in rallycross, speed alone isn’t enough—you need everything to come together.”

One thing is clear: even without the RallyX title, Lukas Andersson proved time and again his ability to bounce back from setbacks.

“What really matters is learning to keep moving forward. If you dwell on poor results, you’ve already lost. What’s done is done—you have to stay focused on the next race. Every round is a new opportunity, and that’s the mindset I tried to stick to all season.”

After a 2025 season full of lessons, Andersson is already looking to the future—convinced that his time in Supercar Lites has run its course.

In fact, he already got a taste of the next step when he drove an FC2 during the Swedish Rallycross Championship finale at Arvika last August.

“When it comes to the future, everything is on the table. Maybe FC2, maybe rallying, maybe Supercar. One thing is certain: I won’t be staying in Supercar Lites—I feel I’ve gone as far as I can in this category. The dream, of course, would be to race in Supercar. But we’ll just have to wait and see what 2026 has in store.”
