Back in RallyX this year after taking a break in 2024, Alex Lindeqvist wasted no time reminding everyone of his potential in the CrossCar category. Yet the Swedish driver may well be eyeing different goals for the season ahead.

Eighth overall in the championship standings, Lindeqvist made a flying start by winning the opening round at Montalegre, before adding a second-place finish the following day. Driving a Speedcar chassis, he also secured two further final appearances by late April at Valkenswaard.

The rest of the season proved far trickier, however, with the Swede having to wait until early August at Nysum before breaking back into the Top 6.

That late surge brought reassurance: Lindeqvist managed to qualify for three finals in the last four rounds of the championship.

It was, in short, a stop-start season—something the man himself acknowledges with honesty.

“This season has been a real rollercoaster for me. I started strong in Portugal with a double podium and followed that up at Valkenswaard with two more finals. But then we decided to switch to a tuned engine that was supposed to give us more power, and in the end the package turned out to be less competitive.”

The turning point came in Denmark, where a return to basics helped him rediscover his rhythm.

“At the start of August we decided to go back to a stock engine in Denmark, and things improved straight away—I was back in the final. My only frustration was the puncture while running second, which cost us a podium that was definitely within reach. But overall we showed a lot of promise at the end of the season. At Buxtehude, the final race of the year, I was only 17th after qualifying but fought my way through the knockout stages to finish fifth in the final.”

Beyond the results, what Lindeqvist takes away most is the experience gained in one of the sport’s most competitive environments.

“Overall, after a year off focusing on the Swedish championship, I can say this has been a really positive campaign. The level in RallyX is insane—every driver in this series is incredibly fast, which means there’s absolutely no room for improvisation. I’m proud of what I’ve shown this year. Even running with a stock engine, I had to push harder to stay in the fight, and that forced me to improve. In the end, I’m satisfied with the progress I’ve made.”

As for what comes next, the Swede is keeping his cards close to his chest—though he hints at intriguing possibilities.

“For next year, we have a few ideas. Maybe a change of category, maybe a new project… nothing is decided yet, we’ll see what comes up with partners and opportunities. I also had the chance to test the FC2 recently, and it’s the best car I’ve ever driven. It was an incredible thrill, a really special experience, but we’ll see in the coming months where that might lead.”
