After returning to the RallyX Championship last season, Alex Lindeqvist has decided to move up a level by leaving the CrossCar category behind. Starting in 2026, the young Swedish driver will compete in the highly competitive Supercar Lites category.

Third in the Swedish championship in 2024, Lindeqvist quickly established himself as one of the standout performers of the RallyX Championship in 2025. The Swede secured the first victory of his career at the opening round at the Circuito Internacional de Montalegre, before backing it up with another podium finish in Race 2 the following day.

Despite a strong eighth-place finish in the overall RallyX standings, Lindeqvist has chosen to set himself a new and ambitious challenge by stepping away from CrossCar to join the fiercely contested Supercar Lites category.

It is a natural progression for a driver who has long been determined to take a significant step forward in his career.

“Driving a real rallycross car has always been my dream. Today, that dream is finally becoming a reality,” Lindeqvist explains. “I started racing CrossCar when I was five years old, and over the years my goal has always been to reach the top category of rallycross. I had the chance to test a Supercar Lite and immediately loved it. I’m really happy to take this next step in my career.”

After a 2025 season marked by strong performances but also a fair share of setbacks, the Swedish driver believes the time has come to open a new chapter.

“Last season had its highs and lows. We showed that we had the pace, but we also had quite a bit of bad luck. That’s part of racing. What’s certain is that my passion for CrossCar remains intact. We probably could have tried to fight for the title this year, but this new step into Supercar Lites really feels like an exciting adventure.”

For Lindeqvist, this first season in the category will above all be a learning experience.

“This first season in Supercar Lites will be a completely new experience for me. I like challenges, so I’m approaching it with a lot of enthusiasm and with the ambition to give the best of myself every weekend.”

Accustomed to the agility and lightweight nature of CrossCars, the Swede is well aware that the transition to Supercar Lites will require a significant technical adjustment behind the wheel.

“There’s a real difference between a small CrossCar and a proper rallycross car, whether it’s under braking, in terms of size, or with the all-wheel-drive system. I need to train, learn, and listen to the more experienced drivers so that I can keep improving and do the best job possible.”

Despite this learning phase, Lindeqvist’s objective remains clear.

“My goal has always been the same: to win. I’m going to work hard, continue listening to the drivers and team members who have more experience, train seriously, and of course enjoy what I’m doing.”

This new chapter will also see Lindeqvist begin the 2026 season in a completely new technical environment.

“Last season was my final one with Hoffman Motorsport. I’m very grateful for all the support Jonthe has given me over the years. We shared many great moments and wonderful memories together. This year I’ll be racing under the colours of OMSE, and we’ll be running the car ourselves throughout the season. I’m really happy, motivated, and can’t wait for the season to start.”

In a championship renowned for its intensity and high level of competition, the young Swedish driver will now have the opportunity to measure his progress against some of the most promising talents on the European rallycross scene.
