Still in the learning phase since making the move to FC2, Tobias Daarbak is beginning to see the first results of his efforts. At Finland’s Honkajoki circuit two weeks ago, the Danish driver delivered his strongest performances of the 2026 season so far, underlining the progress he continues to make in a category he is still getting to grips with.
Having stepped up from the Supercar Lites category, Daarbak particularly caught the eye during the second event of the Finnish weekend. After producing a strong showing throughout the qualifying heats, he climbed as high as third in the intermediate standings before seeing his ambitions disrupted in the final.
Although a maiden FC2 podium ultimately slipped through his grasp, the Dane prefers to focus on the lessons learned from a weekend that could prove to be a turning point in his season.
“Was I disappointed to come so close to my first podium in Finland and miss out? Yes and no, because I honestly feel like I’ve taken a real step forward compared to the previous round. I managed to find a lot more speed and, while leaving without a podium after such a strong weekend is naturally a little frustrating, I still think the overall outcome was very positive.”
Beyond the final result, it was the gap to the category’s leading drivers that attracted his attention the most.
“Our pace was good and we managed to close the gap to the fastest drivers in the field. There were still a few small mistakes here and there, but those are details we’ll continue working on ahead of the next races.”

The progress has also been accompanied by growing confidence behind the wheel of an FC2 car whose finer details he is still discovering. On Honkajoki’s demanding layout, dominated by gravel sections, Daarbak quickly found his rhythm.
“Before the spin, my confidence was definitely building. In the end, the track was really enjoyable to drive. I initially expected it to be even faster, but it actually offered a very good mix of high-speed sections and more technical corners.”
That assessment carries particular significance for a driver whose strengths have traditionally been most evident on loose surfaces.
“For me, that was proper rallycross: plenty of gravel, less asphalt, but enough variety to make the circuit really interesting. Honestly, I thoroughly enjoyed driving that track.”
Attention now turns to the next round, with ambitions continuing to grow. After securing his second qualification for an Open 4WD Pro final at the end of May, following on from his breakthrough appearance in Valkenswaard, Tobias Daarbak heads to Älvsbyn this weekend aiming to build on the progress shown in Finland on a circuit that could suit his driving style perfectly.
“The objective is clear: to take my first Pro-Am victory and claim my first FC2 podium. Those are the next targets we’re aiming for.”
