Norwegian rally ace Ole Christian Veiby will compete in a full RallyX 2022 campaign in an Audi S1 Supercar, driving for the JC Raceteknik team.
The 25-year-old World Rally Championship driver previously raced in the European and World Rallycross Championship, and RallyX events with a Volkswagen Polo run by Kristoffersson Motorsport in 2015, but has since been focusing in his career in rallying.
On the rally stages, Veiby has become a front-runner in the WRC2 category, while also winning Norwegian titles and previously finishing second in the Junior World Rally Championship.
Now he will return to rallycross to race with the JC Raceteknik team at Holjes (Sweden), Kouvola (Finland), Riga (Latvia) and Strangnas (Sweden) as part of RallyX 2022, as JC team mates to Sondre Evjen and Philip Gerhman, who will also race Audi S1 Supercars for the Joel Christoffersson-owned team.
“It feels great to drive in rallycross again. I will of course aim to be at the top, there is no doubt about that. At the same time, it has been quite a few years since I last competed in rallycross and there are many drivers with more experience than me. But, it will be fun to drive such a fast car and race again,” said Veiby.
The Norwegian tested with the JC team at Holjes in Sweden recently. “Driving for JC Raceteknik feels really good. I already knew Joel [Christoffersson] and several others in the team. The Audi is completely new to me though, but I think we have tackled those challenges quickly and have had two good test days at Holjes. If we look at the lap times from the test, things look good. It feels like we will be well prepared for the first event, then we will see what we can do. But certainly, we have the capacity to fight at the front.”
JC Raceteknik Team Principal Joel Christoffersson was also pleased with how things went at the Holjes pre-season test. He said: “We’re entering the season with the goal of chasing a podium place in the championship. At a test we did in Holjes recently Ole Christian set fast times and performed well, so things are looking positive for a successful season.”
Holjes will host the first two 2022 RallyX rounds on May 14-15. You can get tickets to watch the amazing rallycross action here.
