Östlund set for RallyX Supercar at Höljes

Double Swedish Supercar Lites Rallycross Champion and multiple Lites event-winner Linus Östlund will graduate to the Supercar category for the RallyX 2022 Holjes double-header opening weekend.

Östlund is a home hero at the Varmland circuit, hailing from just down the road in Syssleback and will make his Supercar debut in a Ford Fiesta.

The 22-year-old is a six-time Swedish Crosskart Champion and stepped up to Supercar Lites in rallycross in 2017. He made his Lites debut in RX2 at Holjes and returned to his home circuit in RallyX’s Lites class the following year, stunning regulars by finishing on the podium.

The Swede has since been a Lites front-runner and won events, but will climb to Supercar for the start of the 2022 season. Östlund will drive an Olsbergs MSE-built Fiesta, the very same car that Kevin Eriksson delivered his famous “around the outside” move to win the German World Rallycross Championship round at Estering in 2016.

The car has since been updated and is now owned by Norwegian Frank Valle. It will be run at Holjes by Östlund’s own team.

“We’ve been discussing this for a while but it never came to reality. But, with a late decision, we finally made it happen and it’s so exciting,” said Östlund. “We’re running a late test a couple of days before the race in Holjes, but I have no expectations for the weekend really. It’s a totally new car for me and the other guys in Supercar are not exactly beginners, but I’ll try to give them a fight. We will do Holjes and then see what happens for the rest of the year – hopefully we can do some more races. But right now, it’s been a dream for so long to even get the chance to drive a Supercar and to race one at Höljes is just mega!”

Östlund joins a strong Supercar entry for the Holjes RallyX weekend, including former World RX, Euro RX and RallyX Champions, event-winners, podium finishers and newcomers.

Höljes will host the first two 2022 RallyX rounds on May 14-15. You can get tickets to watch the amazing rallycross action here.

All of the RallyX 2022 action will be broadcast live online and for free on RallyX TV on YouTube.
