Grönholm to continue RallyX 2022 assault in Riga

Finnish star Niclas Grönholm will continue his assault on the 2022 RallyX season this weekend in rounds five and six at Riga in Latvia.

Grönholm currently lies second in the Supercar standings after the opening four rounds of the campaign, having twice finished second on the podium at his home circuit, Kouvola in Finland, in rounds three and four.
Now, the three-time RallyX event winner, who also has six World Rallycross Championship wins to his name and recently finished on the podium in the first-ever Nitro Rallycross Group E event at Lydden Hill, will return to the Bikerneiki Circuit in Latvia, where he claimed a win in World RX last season.

The son of two-time World Rally Champion Marcus Grönholm will continue to race a GRX Hyundai i20 in Riga, as he did in the first two weekends of the RallyX this year.

“We’re doing to the event in Riga to get some more races under our belts this year. It fits well into our calendar and it’s a track I enjoy to race on,” said the 26-year-old. “I’ve had some good results at that track in the past, and our car should suit the track pretty well, so I’m hoping to do well and challenge for the wins!”

Grönholm joins a strong Supercar contingent for the Baltic event, including EKS driver Enzo Ide, Yellow Squad’s Yury Belevskiy, Norway’s Thomas Bryntesson and a four-strong effort from the JC Raceteknik stable, comprising of Philip Gehrman, Mats Ohman, Sondre Evjen and Ole Christian Veiby.
