Jere Kalliokoski in top condition ahead of Kouvola

If Johan Kristoffersson and Ole-Christian Veiby will be in Portugal this weekend for the official FIA World Championship tests, this will certainly redistribute the cards in a Supercar category that will have no less than 14 drivers entered.

Starting with the Finnish Jere Kalliokoski, who took advantage of the first round of the 2023 RX Masters Series season last weekend to claim the victory at the Honkajoki track.

The three-time Finnish Supercar champion won all three qualifying heats and then defeated Henri Haapamäki and Jari Tuuri in the final.

A great performance for the 25-year-old driver, who is only a few hours away from rounds 5 and 6 of the RallyX at Kouvola.

“Everything worked well from the first qualifying round. We tried to improve our set-up afterwards and even if it allowed us to progress, I think we could still do better. Even though we lacked traction throughout the race and that the car was not so easy to drive, I still managed to keep the top spot for the entire race,” said Kalliokoski.

Now the Ford Fiesta driver will focus his attention on the RallyX event to come at the end of the week on his homesoil.

“After this first race, the car has been revised from top to bottom while we will have a new clutch for Kouvola. Even though the track surface in Honkajoki is very different from the gravel sections we will have in Kouvola, we will also try to replace the dampers to see if we can be more efficient in terms of traction than we were last weekend. What is certain is that the fact of opening our season with a victory will allow us to approach the event of Kouvola with very good bases”
