Eek Murstad and Enholm ready for all scenarios ahead of Höljes

With three drivers within just five points of each other in the overall championship standings, the final event of the season at Höljes promises to be a memorable one for Sebastian Enholm, Thomas Eek Murstad and Elias Svensson.

Thomas Eek Murstad, who scored his fourth podium of the 2023 season, strengthened his second place in the overall standings by closing to within two points of leader Sebastian Enholm, but he now finds himself under pressure from Elias Svensson, whose victory on the Grenland circuit brought him back to within three points of the Norwegian driver.

Nevertheless, it would take more than that to make Thomas Eek Murstad lose his composure.

“At Grenland, I was a little worried because I was also entered in the Supercar category, and I was afraid that switching from one car to another would contribute to disturbing me a little,” Thomas points out.

“In the end, things went pretty well and I managed to handle the two races perfectly without any problems. The good thing is that we’re still in contention for the championship, but at the same time I know that a lot can still happen at Holjes for this final race of the season.”

“I’m just going to give it my best shot and we’ll see how far this strategy can take us. In any case, we don’t have the slightest margin which means we’ll have to attack whatever happens. Elias Svensson showed in Grenland just how fast he is, and we’re going to have to be at 100% if we want to have any chance of keeping him behind us. As for the rest, I don’t feel any particular pressure. Even in Grenland, where I was competing in front of my home crowd, I didn’t feel any more stress than usual. In fact, it was more of an added motivation for me to be able to race at home. Whatever the final result of this championship, I’m already very satisfied with what we’ve been able to show this year”.

Leading the championship since Kouvola, Sebastian Enholm took advantage of the Grenland stage to claim his fourth podium of the 2023 season, finishing behind Svensson and Eek Murstad. Although his advantage in the overall standings won’t allow him to manage anything in Varmland, the experienced three-time Swedish CrossCar champion is in no way unhappy about the situation.

“We only lead the championship by two and five points respectively over Thomas Eek Murstad and Elias Svensson. If we want to keep this position, the easiest way is certainly to go for victory, and that will be our aim for this weekend. What’s certain is that we’re in for a very exciting final round. Both for the public and for us as drivers, the Holjes event promises to be extremely intense. For me, the strategy is simple: I’m going to throw everything I’ve got into the battle”
