Kevin Eriksson: “This championship has given me a new taste for racing”

While Kevin Eriksson announced a few days ago that he will return to the RallyX championship full-time in 2024 at the wheel of the new FC2, the Team OMSE pilot makes no secret of the pleasure he derives from competing on the Scandinavian stage.

Runner-up in last year’s RallyX with three wins and a total of five podiums at the wheel of the Honda Civic Supercar, Kevin Eriksson will have given Johan Kristoffersson a tough time until the final confrontation of the 2023 season.

It was a situation that allowed the Team OMSE driver to rediscover his passion for rallycross.

“My RallyX season last year was definitely the most fun I’ve ever had behind the wheel of a Supercar,” says Kevin.

“It was really great to fight Johan Kristoffersson all the way for the title. In fact, I’m really pleased with the way the RallyX championship has been able to work with all the teams. The promoter knew that KMS wouldn’t be able to take part in the Kouvola event, but he was able to find solutions to protect everyone’s interests by introducing the two “drop scores”.

“This decision undoubtedly cost me the title, but it didn’t stop me from having a great 2023 season. Thanks to this RallyX season, I’ve simply rediscovered my love for racing. The fact that I was able to combine RallyX and Nitrocross were elements that allowed me to regain my passion for motorsport”.

Now in charge of the development of the new FC2 platform, which he will enter in the RallyX championship in a few months time, the Swede will try to beat the odds this year with an even more exciting challenge.

“Of course it’s a bit sad to know that I have to part with the Honda Civic that I had in my hands last season. We’ve managed to develop this car to perform at the highest level, but I’m convinced that future owners of these cars will appreciate it as much as I do. For my part, my next mission will be to take the FC2 to the top of the class, and I make no secret that this challenge can only thrill me.”
