French Junior Rallycross Champion Marceau Launay joins RallyX

After dominating the French Junior Rallycross Championship in 2023 at the wheel of a Renault Clio Rally5, Marceau Launay has confirmed that he will be joining forces with OMSE in 2024 with a full programme in the RallyX Championship in the Supercar Lites category.

After Cyril Raymond, it’s the turn of another French Junior Champion to join forces with the Swedish team. Marceau Launay had a particularly impressive 2023 campaign, with two victories and a total of seven podium finishes and took the title after accumulating 267 of the 303 points at stake in the French Rallycross Championship.

Of the 50 runs in which Marceau Launay took part in 2023, the driver from Sainte-Mère-L’Eglise in Normandy managed to set the fastest lap in the race on 29 occasions, while also claiming the absolute lap record in six of the seven races on his national championship calendar.

“For me, it’s a real honour to be able to join a team recognised at the highest level in the world. For me, it’s a total change, as I’m moving from my well structured LRT Racing family team to an OMSE firm whose level of expertise we all know. I’m coming in with all the experience I’ve gained in the French championship, and I’m delighted to be taking on this new challenge,” emphasises Marceau.

While Marceau Launay can also draw on an impressive Rallycross CV, he also has a wealth of Rally experience. In nine events contested, the French driver has claimed five class wins at the wheel of three different cars (Renault Twingo R2, Peugeot 208 R2 and Renault Clio R3).

As a 2WD specialist, Marceau will face a very different challenge in Supercar Lites.

” I’m going to discover the world of 4WD. I don’t have any experience in this area, but my driving style has always encouraged me to opt for settings that give me a very mobile rear axle. So I’m assuming that this transition from two-wheel drive to Supercar Lites will be a smooth one. I’ve got a lot of new things to learn, but I’m really looking forward to working with OMSE and the other drivers in the team. I hope to be in the game as quickly as possible”
