Hvaal and Ohman set for RallyX Supercar campaign with JC Raceteknik

Rising rallycross star Jens Hvaal and experienced campaigner Mat Ohman will contest a full 2024 RallyX Supercar season with JC Raceteknik, driving a pair of Audi S1 Supercars.

Norwegian ace Hvaal made his Supercar debut in his home round of the RallyX season at Grenland last August and impressed, challenging drivers with far more experience, en route to fourth place in the Supercar Pro and victory in the Pro Am Supercar categories.

Having previously raced in Junior categories in Norway, Hvaal followed in his family footsteps with a strong European Championship campaign in the RX3 (Super1600) class last season, running at the front of the order throughout the season, having finished a dream third on his debut in Germany in 2022.

Now, 19-year-old Hvaal will take on some of the best rallycross drivers in the world as part of the booming RallyX series, racing in the Supercar category across the 10-round schedule in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Germany.

Also running under the JC Supercar flag, Mats Ohman claimed wins in the Supercar Pro Am category last season and like Hvaal will have eyes on the title this year. Hailing from the North of Sweden, Ohman will have a ‘home’ round of RallyX too, with the third event of the schedule set to be held at Alvsbyn on the last weekend in June.

Joel Christoffersson, JC Raceteknik Team Principal:

“Jens was very impressive in the first race we did with him last year. He was quick in the test we did before Grenland, but to be honest many drivers can be quick in testing but not transfer that speed to a race weekend. Jens did do that, and we’re excited to work with him this year to give him the best chance of delivering those performances every weekend he gets in the car. Jens and Mats are at two ends of the spectrum in Supercar. Jens is an upcoming talent where he has the speed but needs some more experience and Mats has the experience and the speed, he just needs a little luck for everything to fall into place for him sometimes. Mats wins in Finland last year were incredibly special, and we will work hard to make more of those moments with him in 2024.”

Jens Hvaal (NOR):

“Driving a Supercar is something I never imagined I would be doing this year so I’m really looking forward to start the RallyX season. In Grenland last year I had no expectations, so to start in a final with Johan Kristofferson, Ole Christian Veiby, Sondre Evjen and the two Eriksson brothers is something I would never dreamed of before that race – it was a race I will never forget. This season we have one main target, to get as many laps in the car as possible. Although Grenland went very well, it will be something else for me when you have to drive on new tracks, and I have a lot to learn about a four-wheel-drive car. But, we chose JC because we think it’s the best team and everyone in the team is very professional. My cousins have been driving for JC before so we already knew Joel, and after Greenland there was no other option than driving with JC this season.”
