Ulrik Linnemann: “Nysum is a really important race for me”

While Ulrik Linnemann will once again try to prove his speed in the European Rallycross Euro RX1 Championship this year, the Danish driver has no intention of missing out on the first stage of RallyX Nordic coming up next month on his home soil in Nysum.

After having already won in 2018 ahead of Oliver Solberg and Philip Gehrman in Nysum and then taking the third spot on the podium in 2020 behind Oliver Eriksson and Ben-Philip Gundersen, Ulrik Linnemann is determined to extend his award collection in RallyX.

Indeed, the three-time European Rallycross runner-up couldn’t have asked for better preparation than the RalyX championship to polish his skills.

“Even if the budget issue does not allow us to compete in as many races as we would like, I have to participate in this race in Nysum,” says Ulrik.

“We have chosen to focus on the European championship this year, but RallyX is an extremely competitive championship, so the return of Nysum to the calendar makes it a must-see event for me. It’s one of the few opportunities I’ll have this year to drive in front of my sponsors, the Danish fans and the people I care about.

With a Ford Fiesta that has been extensively upgraded this winter and with which he scored two podiums last year in FIA Euro RX1, the RallyX kick-off in Nysum is the ideal place for Ulrik Linnemann to measure the progress made since 2022

“This RallyX race will allow me to compete against some of the best drivers in the world. It’s important for me to show that we have the potential to take on this kind of challenge. Moreover, we have a bit of everything on this track with sections that have a lot of grip and others where it is difficult to find traction. Add to that the jumps and the dirt and it’s the perfect place to prepare for my European Championship season.

“Nysum is a circuit where it is difficult to drive at 100% of your potential without making mistakes. The track is constantly developing and even if I know this place well, it is still far from being easy to handle”.

New for this 2023 edition, the Nysum circuit has a brand new joker lap. Something that Ulrik Linnemann is very happy about.

“The new joker lap is clearly going to be much more interesting. It will not only generate a lot more entertainment for the fans, but it will also be much more fun for the drivers as the joker lap is located right after the start. In the past, you had to wait until the end of the first lap to try something, but this time we will have the freedom to be much more offensive in terms of strategy.
