Solberg Savours Victory as History Repeats

Oliver Solberg says he is taking confidence into the upcoming rounds of RallyX Nordic after giving his title aspirations a major boost with victory in round two in Arvika.

The Norwegian racer bounced back from car problems in the qualifying races and a penalty in the semi-final to take a dominant victory in the final at the wheel of his OSRX Citroen DS3.

The third RallyX Nordic win of his short career, Solberg’s success comes exactly a year after he scored a maiden triumph at the same circuit. One year on, Solberg hopes this win will be the catalyst for a title push.

“It’s amazing to win in Arvika again and get my title hopes back on track after all the problems we had in Holjes. It was an eventful day; We had problems with the launches initially but once we had fixed it the car was brilliant and I could focus properly on racing.

“In the final I had a great start and even though Bryntesson got ahead of me through the first corners I felt I was faster. When he went wide into the final corner I just stuck to the inside and was able to out-drag him. After that I just had to focus, keep my lines clean and keep pushing.

“It’s a great feeling to win again and gives me confidence ahead of Grenland later this month.”

With his home round in Grenland, Norway up next on June 23-24 for round three, Solberg sits second in the standings, nine points behind Thomas Bryntesson.
