The counters are back to zero

Only eighth in the overall standings last year with only one podium to his credit, Isak Sjokvist nevertheless returns to RallyX with serious ambitions. It must be said that the Swedish driver has some legitimate arguments to put forward.

As Isak Sjokvist prepares to enter his third consecutive season in Rallycross, the FIA RX2e runner-up could not afford to miss out on the Scandinavian championship.

“RallyX is simply the most competitive series you can find outside the international championships,” says Isak.

“For me, it’s the best way to keep progressing. It allows us to get a lot of mileage out of each weekend for a budget that is very affordable compared to the amount of money you need to raise to compete in other series. Th

e tracks on the calendar are very different each time and this is exactly what I need to become an even more complete and successful driver. I know that this year I will once again be competing in a championship that has all the ingredients to help me prepare for the upcoming challenges”.

Runner-up in the FIA RX2e championship in 2022, Isak Sjokvist managed to squeeze in between Viktor Vranckx and Nils Andersson. The Upsalla driver, who has four podiums to his name, including a victory on the Barcelona circuit, admits that it would have been impossible for him to achieve such a level of performance without his RallyX program at the beginning of last year.

“If I hadn’t participated in RallyX last year, it’s clear that my performance in RX2e would have been completely different. It helped me to challenge myself and work hard to achieve my goals while keeping in mind that nothing can be taken for granted. I also learned that the wind can change quickly in Rallycross. That’s exactly what happened in Riga last year when technical problems prevented me from defending my chances in race 1 before I got a podium in race 2. Mentally, it allowed me to progress and to understand that despite the difficulties that can sometimes stand in your way, you must never stop believing in yourself.”

If his performances at the end of the 2022 season in FIA RX2e could be enough to make Isak Sjokvist one of the favorites for the RallyX championship, Isak Sjokvist prefers to remain humble.

“Of course, like all the other drivers in the Supercar Lites, the goal is to win the championship, but we have to remain humble. I expect this season to be at least as complicated as the last one because there are so many drivers who have the talent to win races every weekend. As with the start of each season, all the counters are reset to zero and we will have to work hard. That means being smart about strategy and not rushing in when the situation is not under control.
