RallyX: A last minute entry for Peter Hedström

After a few sporadic appearances in RallyX last season, Peter Hedström has decided to step up a gear by confirming his commitment for a full season.

With just a few hours to go before the kick-off of the 2023 RallyX season in Denmark, the entry of Peter Hedström is certainly a valuable addition to the Supercar category.

Indeed, it is with the former Hyundai i20 of the Gronholm RX Team with which Oliver Solberg won last year’s FIA Euro RX1 stage in Höljes before being disqualified from the final that the former two-time Swedish Supercar champion will compete against the favorites.

This Thursday morning, Peter Hedström was able to get his first taste of the South Korean car in Arvika.

I felt a bit rusty during the first few laps but everything quickly went back to normal,” said Peter.

Peter Hedström, who entered the RallyX at the last minute, does not yet know if he will be able to keep the Hyundai i20 for the whole championship or if he will have to go back to one of his VW Polos.

“For this race in Nysum, the Hyundai i20 was free but several potential customers are nevertheless interested for the following events. However, even if the Hyundai is rented, it will not affect my commitment to RallyX. I really want to participate in a full championship and I intend to stick to that”.

However, Peter will not be the only driver competing for Hedströms Motorsport as rally specialist Calle Ward will also be taking part in the adventure in a VW Polo.

While Calle remains a genuine rookie in Rallycross, Peter Hedstrom is a firm believer in his new teammate’s potential.

“I think he has the qualities to do well,” notes Peter Hedstrom.

“The tests we were able to do on the Arvika circuit certainly speak in his favor. Indeed, among all the drivers who have been able to try our cars, not so many have managed to impress me so quickly like he did.”
