Sebastian Enholm won’t give up the fight

Three-time Swedish CrossCar champion and winner of last year’s European Nitro Rallycross Division in the CrossCar category, Sebastian Enholm proved at Kouvola that he will be a force to be reckoned with until the end of the 2023 season.

Considered one of the favourites for the championship ahead of the opening round in Denmark, Sebastian Enholm set the tone from the outset with back-to-back podiums at Nysum in April before facing three more difficult races at Tierp and Kouvola 1.

Having been eliminated three times in a row in the semi-finals, Sebastian had also dropped down the CrossCar hierarchy, swapping the second place overall he occupied after Nysum for a more discreet fourth place before Kouvola.

In Finland last weekend, Sebastian Enholm didn’t miss the opportunity to prove his true potential. Top performer on the third weekend of the year, the Swede equalled his best score of the season with 45 points from two races in Kouvola.

With two qualifying wins to his credit in Race 2, Enholm won the intermediate classification for the first time this season, and set no less than two fastest race laps, including the absolute lap record of 42.130s in Race 2.

As well as taking the top step of the podium in the final race to claim his first victory of the season, Sebastian Enholm also claimed the overall lead with just two races remaining in the 2023 season.

A leadership position he has absolutely no intention of relinquishing to his rivals.

“It’s obviously a very good performance. To go out and get a first win this season after clinching Q1 and Q3 is quite simply the perfect scenario as far as I’m concerned,” Sebastian points out.

“I’m going to hang on to this first place and focus on the rest of the championship. My plan is simple: go for victory in the next two races and lock up the RallyX championship. It would certainly be the greatest reward that I could achieve since I started in motorsport”.

More determined than ever, Sebastian Enholm will attempt to maintain his status in the CrossCar championship at the end of August on the home turf of his nearest challenger in the overall standings, Thomas Eek Murstad. Best performer of the class in qualifying alongside Sebastian Heum, with 72 points scored out of a possible 96 since Nysum, the experienced Swedish driver now has all the cards in hand to claim another trophy.
