Espen Isaksætre confirms full-time commitment

Runner-up in last season’s FIA Euro RX3 European Championship at the wheel of Volland Racing’s Audi A1, Espen Isaksætre has confirmed that he will commit to a full schedule in the RallyX championship in 2024.

After two races in Grenland and Holjes in 2023 in the CrossCar category with his Speedcar Wonder chassis, Espen Isaksætre has finally decided to compete in a full season.

While the Super1600/RX3 specialist wants to prove his speed, he is also determined to do his utmost to help his young nephew Sebastian Isaksætre, who will be competing in the Junior CrossCar category.

With no shortage of favorites in this fast-paced class, the addition of the experienced Norwegian driver on a full-time basis is undoubtedly excellent news for the RallyX championship.

“If I’ve decided to come back, it’s because I really love the RallyX concept and this CrossCar category,” says Espen.

In addition to his duties in the European Rallycross Championship, Isaksætre also competed in the Norwegian CrossCar Championship in 2023, where he finished fifth overall ahead of Alexander Heum.

“There are so many good drivers in RallyX that you have no choice but to fight for every tenth. It’s hard to find such a tough championship. And I can’t hide the fact that this RallyX program will also allow me to help my nephew Sebastian continue his development in the junior category. I’m starting to get a bit more experience in this category, so I hope it will help both of us.”

A key figure in the Super1600/RX3 category for the past ten years, Espen Isaksætre has clearly chosen to step out of his comfort zone by entering the CrossCar division. A decision fully supported by the Norwegian driver.

“I have always enjoyed pushing my limits. As a driver, there’s no better experience than competing against the best. That’s the way to progress and that’s why I love the CrossCar category so much. You have to give it your all every lap and leave no stone unturned in terms of driving and set-up.”

“Everything has to be perfect if you want to have a chance of getting a good result and that’s what I enjoy the most. I’d rather do that than win a race by a few seconds margin, because it’s a lot less fun. The tougher the competition, the more fun I have. We’ll also have a lot of Norwegian drivers on the grid this year. We’ll be a bit like a big family and I’m sure we’ll have a great season.”
