2023 French Junior Champion has his eyes on the RallyX Championship

Crowned French Junior Rallycross Champion last October after a perfectly flawless season, with two victories and a total of seven podium finishes from as many events contested, Marceau Launay makes no secret of his growing interest in the RallyX championship.

With 267 points out of 303 available in the 2023 season, 15 victories in 30 qualifying rounds contested and no less than 26 top-3 finishes, Marceau Launay has quickly become the measure of his rivals in the French Junior Championship.

In addition to 29 fastest race laps in 50 starts this year, the Frenchman has also set lap records at six of the eight circuits on the calendar.

Ten years after Cyril Raymond’s first success in the French Junior Championship, it’s now Marceau Launay’s turn to study with interest the opportunities available to him on the international scene.

And it’s clear that the RallyX championship could well be one of his top targets.

“Winning the French junior title is a real source of satisfaction, because it’s the reason why I decided to return to rallycross in 2023. However, although the winner of the Junior Championship was previously offered a Super1600 race program, this is no longer the case,” Marceau points out.

“If I want to continue in rallycross, I’ll have to find solutions. At the moment, the budgets that would have to be raised to acquire a Super1600 capable of competing for victory in France are very high, and it’s the same as far as the Supercar category is concerned. So I find myself in a situation where my options in France are limited, if not non-existent, if I want to continue my development as a driver. However, I don’t want this Junior title to go to waste.

In this context, Marceau Launay is exploring other possibilities, in particular the RallyX championship.

“Today, the only championship that can allow a driver to progress and climb the ladder is the RallyX championship. We know that RallyX has strong links with the FIA championships, as well as with Nitrocross, as the teams competing in these championships are, for many of them, also active in RallyX”.

“That’s why I’m getting more and more interested in Supercar Lites, which is an ideal category for me. Everyone has the same equipment and with the introduction of the FC2 concept there is a real chance for evolution. Of course, if I want to continue in Rallycross, the RallyX championship is definitely the most serious option.”
